Our rabbit and guinea pig runs are covered, secure and predator proof. They are equipped with play tunnels, dig boxes, hay racks, balls and hidey-holes for guinea pigs.
Additional shade is provided in the summer, as well as ice packs if it gets particularly hot. Covered hot water bottles and heat lamps are provided in the winter when required.
Our outdoor rabbit accommodation is in line with standards recommended by the Rabbit Welfare Association and Fund (RWAF) and the RSPCA. Our runs are a minimum of 36 square feet and our rabbit hutches are 6 x 2 x 2 feet. These are raised to allow more run space and plenty of shade with ladders in place for rabbits to access the hutch. We also have two 4 feet double-decker hutches for smaller rabbits, guinea pigs and older rabbits who cannot manage a ladder.
Our chicken boarding accommodation consists of a 40 square foot covered run containing a hen house with perches and nesting boxes.
During daytime hours guest chickens have access to a fenced area of the garden to range, separated from our own flock. For the first few boarding days they will be secured in the closed run before dark to ensure they roost in a safe place. Once they learn where to sleep, chickens are counted and closed up at dusk.
